Our story

Built by a backpacker.
For backpackers.

I'm Ward, from Belgium. Here's why I built this.

In September 2023 I quit my office job in Belgium and started my aussie adventure as a backpacker.

The lifestyle hooked me quickly. It wasn't long before I knew I wanted to stay longer. I just needed 88 days of regional work to unlock my second year. Simple enough, right?

The reality was nothing like that. Days scrolling through Facebook groups and job boards. Which jobs actually count? Which postcodes qualify? Is this farm legit? Half the posts were outdated, the other half contradicted each other. I emailed dozens of farms that never replied. I did a couple of days on one thinking it counted. It didn't.

"Why is there no list of employers you can actually trust, who are actually looking for workers right now?"

Eventually I figured it out and got my days done. I worked on a cattle station in the Pilbara, a cocktail bar on an island, and a farm in Tasmania. I had the best time. But I kept thinking: why was that so hard to find? I want every backpacker to have the same experience.

So I built this.

Ward — founder of Farmwork4u, on a farm in Tasmania

It's run by me. One person. Just a backpacker who went through it and decided to make it easier for everyone who comes after.
